Building on the successful in-person meeting held in September 2024, OSMR once again brought together software providers and institutional partners for the Face-to-Face Gathering – Software Providers, reaffirming the importance of collaboration, open dialogue and continuous improvement in the Romanian National Medicines Verification System (NMVS).
The meeting opened with remarks from Mr. Laurențiu Mihai, OSMR General Manager, who highlighted the importance of this continued collaboration which plays an important role in ensuring that the system responds to users’ needs and continues to operate effectively.
Mr. Răzvan Marinică, Chief Police Commissioner within the Directorate for Economic Crime Investigation of the Romanian Police, then outlined the importance of the NMVS in protecting the legal medicines supply chain. He emphasised the role of medicines verification and pack decommissioning in helping prevent falsified medicines from entering the legal distribution chain.
A key topic of this year’s gathering was the National Alerts Management System (NAMS). Mrs. Felicia Aciu, representing OSMR’s Operational Department, presented the application and its role in improving alert management. By providing stakeholders with direct, real-time access to alerts, NAMS supports more efficient communication, greater transparency and a more coordinated approach to alert resolution. The presentation also included a live demonstration of the application, offering participants a practical overview of its functionalities.
Mrs. Loredana Irimia, also representing OSMR’s Operational Department, focused on the importance of everyday operational processes and data accuracy which is mandatory in ensuring the legitimacy of the End-Users.
From a technical perspective, Mr. Dan Visoiu, IT Consultant, presented key aspects of the NMVS, providing further insight into the system’s functioning and technical considerations relevant to software providers.
Mr. Andrei Grigore, Falsified Medicines Alerts Service, General Directorate of Pharmaceutical Inspection (ANMDMR) also emphasised the importance of all stakeholders complying with applicable legal obligations and maintaining accurate data within the NMVS.
The presentations were followed by constructive discussions, during which OSMR and the software providers exchanged views, clarified technical aspects and shared valuable feedback and suggestions for further improvements to the NMVS. These discussions reinforced the value of direct dialogue in identifying practical solutions and ensuring that the system continues to evolve in line with operational requirements.
The gathering once again demonstrated that the effective functioning of the NMVS depends not only on robust technology, but also on accurate data, operational expertise and strong relationships between all parties involved.
