Today is a day for celebration as the 9th of February 2024 marks the 5th year since all the medicines verification systems became operational all over Europe.
Romania is one of the European countries in which the enrollment rate to the NMVS is 100%, more precisely – 9,612 pharmacies, 592 hospitals and 392 wholesalers registered to the NMVS in January 2024.
More importantly, the percentage of false alerts generated by the End-Users in Romania in the system is 0,02% of the total transactions performed, significantly lower than the target level of 0,05%.
“As we have outlined throughout the years since the system’s go-live, this is an extremely vital project for patients’ safety as the impact of falsified medicines on public health is a significant one. The impressive results registered in our country are the result of an effective and open collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry – manufacturers, wholesalers, pharmacists and the National Competent Authorities – The Ministry of Health and the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices in Romania and so, with this occasion, we thank them again for their commitment and dedication”, Laurentiu Mihai, OSMR General Manager.
