At the 7th edition of OSMR\u2019s Patient Safety through Safe Medicines<\/em><\/strong> conference, Ms. Albu joined representatives of national and European institutions, international organisations and the healthcare sector to discuss the challenges of combating falsified medicines and the importance of coordinated action.<\/p>\n During the conference, the interest expressed by the Medicines Agency of the Republic of Moldova in implementing a National Medicines Verification System highlighted an important opportunity for knowledge sharing between the two countries. Romania\u2019s experience with its National Medicines Verification System (NMVS) can provide valuable insights into the practical considerations involved in developing such a system and the role it can play in protecting the legal medicines supply chain.<\/p>\n The positive relationship between the two organisations reflects a shared commitment to medicines\u2019 safety and the value of learning from the experience of others.<\/p>\n Another opportunity for knowledge sharing took place in Chi\u0219in\u0103u, where Mr.<\/strong> Lauren\u021biu Mihai, OSMR General Manager, participated in the 2026 MEDICRIME Conference<\/strong>. During the event, he presented an overview of Romania\u2019s National Medicines Verification System (NMVS), sharing insights into its functioning and its role in helping prevent falsified medicines from entering the legal supply chain.<\/p>\n An additional opportunity for a communication exchange took place in Chi\u0219in\u0103u during a TAIEX Expert Mission on the information system for the traceability of medicinal products<\/strong>, organised in cooperation with the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of the Republic of Moldova. The mission focused on strengthening the country\u2019s capacity to develop and implement a national system aligned with EU legislation on falsified medicines.<\/p>\n During the meeting, Mr. Mihai presented Romania\u2019s experience in implementing the NMVS, sharing insights into the practical aspects of its implementation. His contribution offered an opportunity to exchange knowledge and lessons learned that may support the Republic of Moldova in exploring the development of its own national medicines verification system.<\/p>\n Although these initiatives took place on separate occasions, both reflect the importance of maintaining an open dialogue and sharing practical experience across borders.<\/p>\n The collaboration between OSMR and the Medicines Agency of the Republic of Moldova demonstrates that medicines safety is a shared responsibility.
